Replay and track buyer behavior sessions on the checkout by creating heatmaps with Hotjar - Checkify integration.

You can integrate Hotjar, a webpage heatmaps & behavior analytics tool, with Checkify.pro to track buyer interactions during the checkout process. The integration allows you to monitor shoppers' behavior via Hotjar recordings on the following pages:

  • Checkout page - see what buyers do on your checkout once they land on it.

  • Thank You page - track behavior of your customers once they finish the main purchase and check their order information (the confirmation screen).

Hotjar tracks the following actions of customers depending on the device they have been using when opening a specific page:

On desktop:

  • Clicks

  • Direction of mouse movement

  • Scroll

On mobile:

  • Taps

  • Scroll

How can I set up the integration?

Create or log in to your Hotjar account and link the store you will use the integration for. Then, follow these steps:


1. Go to your Hotjar Dashboard.

2. Copy the Site ID from the URL in Hotjar related to your store.

Or you can find the Site ID when you go to Sites & Organizations item of the Account menu on the left. From there you will see a list of Sites and Organizations you have access to, along with their IDs.

3. Log in to your Checkify account, visit the Integrations section

4. Hotjar > Connect

5. Paste the Site ID in the appropriate field

6. Click on "Connect +"

7. Go back to Hotjar and select Verify installation

8. You should have a notification message displayed that your tracking code has been successfully verified.

Create heatmaps in Hotjar for Checkify pages

Heatmaps allow you to track and to review the behavior of customers on specific pages. When integrating Hotjar with Checkify, you can have such tracking for the Checkout page and the Thank You page. Follow the steps below to create a heatmap:

1. Log in to your Hotjar account and go to Heatmaps from the Analytics menu on the left.

2. Select New Heatmap.

3. Add the name of your heatmap depending on the page you want to track. For example, you can begin with creating a Checkout Page heatmap. Then, click Next to continue.

4. Select the number of page views recorded, depending on your Hotjar subscription plan. Then, click Next to continue.

5. Page Targeting - if you want to target the Checkout page or the Thank You page in general, you need to select the Similar pages option. Then, from the drop-down field, select "URL Contains" and add the following part, depending on the page you want to target:
- Checkout page URL - /checkout
- Thank You page URL - /thank-you-page

๐Ÿ™‹ Can I create a heatmap for a specific Thank You page?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. You can have a heatmap only for all the Thank You pages, in general.

๐Ÿ™‹ Can I use one heatmap for two or more pages?

No, each page has an individual heatmap. For example, if you want to track three pages on your store, you need to create three heatmaps, one for each page.

๐Ÿ™‹ Would the integration slow down my checkout page?

No, it wonโ€™t.

๐Ÿ™‹ Does the integration collect or can expose the billing information of my buyer on the checkout?

No, it doesnโ€™t collect and it wonโ€™t show any confidential information. These fields will be shown as blank.
