1. Setting up Pinterest Tag

To connect your Pinterest Tag to Checkify, you will only need your Unique Tag ID. Here's where to find it:

  2. Select Conversions in the Ads tab.

Now just add it to the corresponding field in the Integrations section in the Checkify admin panel.

2. Connecting Conversions API

Pinterest supports a server-to-server connection that enables merchants sending conversions directly to the platform. Conversions API can be enabled in addition to the Pinterest Tag.

Checkify needs two IDs in order to get it running. Firstly, the ad account number is required to start sending events to the Pinterest Conversions API.

  1. Visit Ads > Account Overview.

  2. Find your ad account ID in the URL. It will look like:

ads.pinterest.com/advertiser/{ad_account_id}/?...

4. Copy-paste or just type it into the corresponding field in the Integrations section in the Checkify admin panel.

The Conversions API also requires a conversion access token to be generated in the ads manager and submitted to admin Checkify.

  1. Visit the Pinterest Ads Manager and select Ad Account Overview > Conversions > Conversions API > Set up API.

  2. Select 'Conversion access token', and click 'Generate new token'.

  3. Your Ad Account ID will also be displayed in addition to the token.

  4. Copy-paste conversion access token into the corresponding field in the Integrations section in the Checkify admin panel and press "Connect+" button.

3. Events and integration checks

Once the Checkify - Pinterest integration is successfully enabled and running, you will start getting the following events in your Pinterest ad cabinet.

Checkify will be sending "Custom" event to Pinterest Analytics. Note that this event stands for a checkout start in the Pinterest system.

Checkify will be sending "Checkout" event to Pinterest Analytics. Note that this event stands for a successful purchase in the Pinterest system.

Deduplication will be done automatically, on Pinterest's side.

To make sure Pinterest Tag is active on your checkout, you can install a browser extension that will show you the events and values Pinterest Tag collects — Pinterest Tag Helper.

To check if Pinterest Tag collects all the events correctly, create a Checkify checkout on your store. Place a test order and check the extension for the "Payment completed" event. Click on the Pinterest Tag Helper to get this information.

Note that you may not be able to see the tag and its events in the Pinterest Tag Helper because of cookie blockers. Even if you don't have any specific extensions to block cookie files, your browser can still do that.

If Pinterest Tag Helper hasn't detected the tag on your checkout page, try again using an Incognito tab. By doing so you will disable all possible cookie blockers. To check the tag in Incognito mode you need to enable the usage of the Pinterest Tag Helper in Incognito mode. Go to the extension settings to do so:

  1. Right-click on the Pinterest Tag Helper icon in the bookmarks bar. Select "Manage Extensions". Or press the three vertical dots next to the icon of the extension to open "More options" menu and select "Manage extension".

  3. Create a Checkify checkout with any product from your store in the Incognito mode and check if the extension can track Pinterest Tag.

4. Resolving common issues

🙀 My Pinterest Tag works in the test mode, but I don't receive real events.

Unfortunately, some of your customers use browsers with cookie blockers, which affects the tracking quality for all pixels. Activate server-side integration (Conversions API) to send more data to the platform and enhance ad tracking efficiency.
