Updated over a week ago

TikTok is a social media app that enables users to create and view short videos. With its easy-to-consume content being watched by millions of people every day, TikTok attracts e-com marketers with its growing audience and cost-effective CPMs.

In this article:

1. Setting up TikTok Pixel

Be sure to check your TikTok account permissions in Business center. We recommend enabling Admin and Operator rights:

To connect TikTok Pixel with Checkify, you'll just need your TikTok Pixel ID. Here is how you can find it:

  1. Choose Event in the Assets drop-down menu.

  2. Select the Website Pixel box and click on Manage.

  3. Select the Pixel you want to connect with Checkify and copy its ID.

If you don't have any Pixels yet, create one. Then choose the Manually Install Pixel Code option. Your TikTok Pixel ID will be listed at the end of the code as shown in the picture below.

Now just copy it to the corresponding field in the Checkify admin panel:

The integration will allow you to share the checkout started (Initiate Checkout) and purchase events (Place An Order and Complete Payment) with TikTok Ads Manager.

1.1 Events API

Optional: You can add Events API Access Token to Checkify. This will improve the quality of tracking, including situations when buyers have cookie blockers on their side.

Also, if you use Events API Checkify will be additionally sending Add Payment Info event and a custom event Accepted Upsells.

Complete the steps below to enable this tracking setup:

  1. In the Events Manager, navigate to the Pixel and click the Settings tab.

  2. Click Generate Access Token. The token will be generated immediately.

  3. Copy it to the corresponding field in the Checkify admin panel

After connecting, you will see the following in your TikTok Events manager:

2. Checking integration and events

To make sure TikTok Pixel is active on your checkout, you can install TikTok Pixel Helper. It is a browser extension that shows you the events and values TikTok Pixel collects.

  1. Install TikTok Pixel Helper on your browser (preferably Chrome).

  2. Create a Checkify checkout with any product from your store and check if the extension can track TikTok Pixel on the page.

Place test order and check the extension for the Place An Order event (Complete Payment event also will be sent).

Note that you may not be able to see the Pixel in the TikTok Pixel Helper because of cookie blockers. Even if you don't have any specific extensions to block cookie files, your browser still can do that.

If TikTok Pixel Helper can't track Pixel on your checkout page, try again using an incognito tab. In doing so you will disable all possible cookie blockers. To check the Pixel in incognito mode you need to enable using TikTok Pixel Helper in incognito mode. Go to the extension settings to do so. Here's how to do this in the Google Chrome browser:

  1. Right-click on the TikTok Pixel Helper icon in the bookmarks bar. Select "Manage Extensions".

3. Resolving common issues

πŸ™€ My TikTok Pixel works in the test mode, but I don't receive real events.

Unfortunately, some of your customers use browsers with cookie blockers, which affect the tracking quality for all pixels. We are trying to use server-side integration for those platforms that support it. Make sure your TikTok's Events API is set correctly, as described above.

πŸ™€ Which values are shared with the Initiate Checkout event?

Initiate Checkout event includes a checkout URL, product details, value (order total), and currency values to TikTok Ads Manager.

πŸ™€ Which values are shared with the Place An Order event?

Place An Order event includes a checkout URL, product details, value (order total), and currency values to TikTok Ads Manager.
