Connecting Outbrain Pixel

Learn how to integrate Checkify with Pixel by Outbrain content discovery platform.

Updated over a week ago

Outbrain platform helps people share your content and recommend it to others based on their recent searches. Use Outbrain pixel to analyze which clients were brought to you by Outbrain ads and track conversion actions on your checkout.

In this article:

1. Setting up Outbrain pixel

Checkify uses Event-Based conversions to track a specific action that the customer takes on your site. Checkify sends “сheckout_started” and “make_purchase” events to Outbrain Pixel.

To connect Outbrain Pixel to Checkify, set up Conversion on Outbrain platform and paste pixel ID to Checkify admin panel.

  1. On the left-side menu, click Pixels.

  2. Select Conversions.

Conversions tab

3. Click the Add conversion button.

4. On the new screen, fill out the information.

5. Select Event-Based Conversion and attribute a value to your conversion.

6. Click Save.

Outbrain will redirect you to the main screen of the tool.

7. On the main menu, click View Outbrain Pixel. A new screen will open up with the JavaScript code.

9. Paste the code of the OB_ADV_ID variable into the field for Outbrain in the Integrations tab of the Checkify admin panel.

2. Checking integrations and events

Install Outbrain Pixel tracker to test and troubleshoot Outbrain pixel on your checkout.

To test the pixel:

  1. Install Outbrain Pixel tracker Chrome extension.

  2. Add any product to the cart, initiate Checkify checkout and check if the extension can track the pixel on the page.

  3. Place a test order and check the extension for the "make_purchase" event.

Note: Cookie blockers can prevent Outbrain Pixel Tracker from working. Some browsers have built-in cookie blocking features. If the Pixel Tracker did not register the event, try again from an Incognito tab. Chrome prevents apps from working in Incognito tabs, so set the permission manually in the Extensions menu.

After you tested the pixel, you can monitor conversions in the Campaigns view of your dashboard. For each conversion you create, you will see Conversion, Conversion Rate, CPA, Conversions Total Value, and Conversions Average Value.

3. Resolving common issues

🙀 My Outbrain Pixel works, but I don't receive real events.

If your customers use cookie blockers, the pixel will not always track them. Also, as with reporting, there will be a 2-4 hour delay in conversion tracking.

🙀 I tested the pixel, but I don’t see events in the dashboard.

Testing the pixel will not register a conversion in the dashboard. The pixel records conversion only when the desired action you set is completed when a customer starts the checkout or finishes the purchase.

🙀 I followed all steps, but Pixel does not work.
