2.2 Additional options

When adding Checkout.com as a payment method on Checkify.pro, you will also able to configure additional options:

i. Target countries.

You can select specific countries or regions for which this payment method will be displayed.

ii. Manage blocks with Checkout.com's payment options visibility on the checkout page.

It is possible to choose the desired layout of Checkout.com's payment block on your checkout page. There are three available options: both cards and other (alternative) methods, cards, or other methods.

For example, deactivating “other methods” may be useful for creating a more streamlined checkout experience, especially if a business accepts card payments exclusively.

3. Alternative payment methods by Checkout.com

Checkout.com supports up to 150 local and alternative payment methods globally. However, due to eligibility criteria, regional availability, and business restrictions, the number actually accessible to a given business is typically closer to 45. The specific set of payment methods is determined by Checkout.com based on each client’s configuration and profile. For precise information, contact Checkout.com’s support team.

For a comprehensive list of supported methods, refer to Checkout.com's detailed set as described here.

  1. Log in to your Checkout.com dashboard.

  2. Pick the correct entity and go to settings (usually in the top right corner of the interface).

  3. Scroll down to Product settings > Payment methods

  4. You can view the list of payment methods that are enabled or available to request for your account.

Checkout.com reviews your request and contacts you in 3 to 5 business days.

4. Supported currencies and languages

Checkout.com offers over 140 processing currencies. Since Checkify.pro also provides multi-currency capabilities, you may charge customers in their native currencies, with conversions and settlements handled automatically according to your account configuration.

The full list of currencies is presented here. If the default currency of your Shopify store is not one of them, Checkout.com integration will not work.

In other words, the currency of the checkout should be in one of those currencies. This is not a limitation for your buyers, whose cards may still be in any other currency, even those outside the list of supported ones.

There are over 20 languages/locales supported by Checkout.com for its hosted checkout page. It is fewer than on Checkify's checkouts. If the checkout page is in a language not supported by the payment provider, the post-redirect payment elements will appear in English. Once the buyer completes the purchase, the order confirmation (thank you) page by Checkify will be displayed in their native language again.

5. Resolving common issues

🙀 How do I link an imported order with a Checkout.com payment received?

When the order is placed successfully, there is always a set of data associated with it. It is provided in the Orders section of the Checkify admin.

Alternatively, you may find this info on Shopify. Open the order timeline. Here, Authorization key = Checkout.com payment ID. Example:

The Payments section in dashboard.checkout.com also contains the same transaction identifier. Example:

Every payment on Checkout.com also contains purchase details which are useful for working with orders. You may disable product name transfer to the payment processor in admin > Payment methods > Settings

🙀 I see an order pending status on my Shopify. What happens with the order?

There is always a time gap between accepting an order and capturing the payment (marking it as 'Paid'). This is normal, because during this time the payment is authorized but not yet charged. If the order is canceled before capture, the authorization is simply released, usually without fees, since the funds were never fully processed by the bank. The speed is different depending on the payment method used: it could be faster for cards, it may require a bit more time for some other methods, like transfers.

So, it is advisable to wait for the payment to be captured. No immediate action is required on your side.

🙀 How do I refund the payment for an order received via Checkout.com?

For more accurate accounting and reporting, we recommend using the native Shopify refund flow for orders. This process is fully automated: Shopify and Checkout.com communicate directly, and Checkify is not involved. Your changes made on Shopify will be reflected on dashboard.checkout.com/payments

Example: A partial refund of EUR45.66 is initiated on Shopify, Orders, and is recorded in Checkout.com

🙀 How can I indicate that non-card payments are also available?

Since it is possible to modify nearly every word on the checkout page by Checkify, you can adjust the texts depending on your business needs and target geo. The default selectors are "Cards" and "Other methods". It can be edited, if required.

Visit admin > Localization section, Checkout.com. For example, if a specific method, like iDEAL, is your focus, you may edit the text in the in the “Switcher - Other methods” field and explicitly indicate it.

The description of the payment method has also been changed. See the example of such an update below:

Buyers will clearly see the name of the method and know what to expect.

🙀 Which payment processors, apart from Checkout.com, are available?

Checkify.pro customers can collect payments via Airwallex, Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, or Adyen. Here, we explain more about the differences and which one to choose. It is a common practice to have more than one payment gateway active. For example, Stripe + PayPal or Airwallex + PayPal, and a manual payment method (cash on delivery) in addition to that. Mollie has its advantages too, especially for the EEA sellers.
